The dreaded.......

EAR INFECTION

I woke up today and my ears hurt a little. I went to work and my ears hurt a little. As I worked more and was up and down my ears started hurting like crazy! Went to my boss and asked if she has someone who might be able to cover me so I could go to the doctor. So now I have almost a complete double ear infection! WooHoo!! I haven't had one since I was three (per my mom). So now it's the holidays and I am battling this. YUCK!!

On other notes, I am going to see a lot of family for Christmas/New Years! And I don't have to work again until Monday!!!

Hope you all have a very blessed Christmas. May the joy of Jesus birth fill your hearts!!

Love ya'll!!

The Start To A Wonderful Day

I have had an amazing morning. I got up early to shovel, then got ready for work. I needed to break my $20 so I went to Starbucks to get a drink. When I pulled up to pay, the lady told me that the person in front of me had paid for my drink!! Wow! Amen! So I asked if I could pay for the person behind me. The lady told me the car in front of me had given $50 dollars to pay for people's drinks. Great way to start the morning!! So then I drive to work and go in to the office. I stood talking to some of my co-workers, when my boss came to me and told me she had someone to cover my hours, if I wanted to go home. So ABSOLUTELY I said yes! It's not often that closer's get a day off or even off early.

Needless to say this girl is excited. I am going to be productive today! Make cinnamon ornaments for my kiddos and get some laundry done. Then tonight I am off to a Go Fish! concert with a friend!!

Weird Things Happen

Do you ever have weird things happen while you are sleeping? Like you wake up and know that you had something near you but, it is not there? This happened to me last night. I went to bed with sweat pants on and woke up and they were all the way across the room. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what happened. Crazy. Hope this is not the beginning of an interesting day!

It has begun

All the illnesses that come with the winter have started. I don't know that I am ready, but so far there is strep and ear infection going around like crazy at work. No flu yet, but I am sure that will come too. Speaking of the flu, I am torn as to whether to get a flu shot or not. I did last year and I was fine. But there are quite a few of my co-workers that have gotten it this year and have gotten really sick just after getting it. On the other hand, my mom got one and she was fine. Such a tough decision.

Well hopefully today will fly by. I am excited to get on the road and travel to see friends this weekend!!

All moved in

Well Mom and I are all moved in to the duplex in Des Moines. The intention of the past week was to start unpacking boxes and making this a home. That didn't happen. I got sick on Monday night and that lasted all week. On top of the one of my uncles had a major heart attack on Tuesday so we have been spending a lot of time at the hospital. Good news: I am not sick and my uncle is doing well. He had been in the Critical Care Unit (CCU), sedated, on a ventilator and a balloon pump running his heart. On Friday they took him off the balloon pump and his heart worked on it's own!!! Then Saturday they took him off sedation and also off the ventiltor!! He is also out of the CCU and in a regular hospital room. So thanks for the prayers if you got my note on facebook. Hopefully this week we can get some boxes unpacked and make this place start feeling like a home.

I can't wait to see some of you next weekend!!

Moving

The house is becoming empty. The vehicles are packed to start moving. I am not sure what I think about this all...most of my life was spent in this house. More in this house than the other 3 houses I lived in. Tomorrow we are going to move the packed boxes and then Mom will move whatever we pack tomorrow night on Thursday and Friday. Saturday we move everything else that is left.

This will probably be the last post til after the big move.

Hope you all are doing well!!

Some good words out of a well known man

*David Letterman wrote this; it's the David we don't often see...

' As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark 'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?''

A.. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?

B.. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

C.. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

D.. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

E.. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?

F.. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

G.. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.

H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

I.. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

J.. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

K.. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss .

L.. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

M.. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.

The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable' ' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

I am horrible at this packing thing. We have lived in this house for 13 years and I just don't know where to start!!! I have cleaned out some things, like the closet and under my bed, but it is just getting frustrating.

This weekend I am going to watch marching band!! I love marching band....love it!!

The other thing I am doing this weekend is finishing the 10 credit hours of Continuing Ed. I need so I can get paid holidays!!! Paid holidays will be so awesome!! I think I also get 1 week paid vacation also with it!!! Think I will probably use that this summer.

Happy things~ My sister is flying home to help us move!! I am super excited to see her. I haven't seen her since her wedding.

My Weekend

Let's start this with Friday. Friday was crazy. One of my co-teachers was not there so we had a sub. Not bad, it was at least someone who would actually help. But the floaters who cover our breaks are just worthless with helping out with the kids. They come in and sit on their butts and do nothing. So we got through that and then about 3:40 that afternoon, the fire alarm goes off...are you kidding me!! We run around and get all the kids in our two fire safe cribs and run out side with them. Kids are screaming because of the noise. The fire truck gets there and one of the girls starts screaming because she is afraid of unfamiliar men...not a bad thing. Then we find out that one of the Preschool 1 kids pulled the alarm. That was a really chaotic way to end the week.

After work, mom and I went out to eat at Joe's Crab Shack! It was good. We then saw the movie Fireproof. If you have not seen that movie yet, please, please go see it. It is amazing. Married or not it is well worth the money to go see. None of the actors, including Kirk Cameron, were paid for this movie. All of the proceeds go to a Charity.

Saturday, I started cleanig the house and getting rid of stuff so we don't move everything when we move to Des Moines. Took a whole lot of clothes to D.A.V., a store like Good Will. Finished the day with going to see a good friend and her fiance in Ames. She made me supper and it was great. We talked about all sorts of things, from her wedding planning to the good old times. I love seeing friends and hanging out with them. It was a late night for me but well worth it.

Then today, went to church, then went to Des Moines to eat and shop a little. Went to JCPenney first. I was looking through racks of clothes when I heard people trying to keep someone awake. I went over and this lady was having a diabetic seizure. So I offered my services, because I am certified in CPR and First Aid. They kindly told me that they were alright. Shortly after that the paramedics showed up. This ladies name is Jessie. Please pray for her. I don't know her, but she is in need of some prayers for health.

So a productive, busy weekend for me. I can't wait to move though.

Love ya'll

Found a Place

Mom and I have found a place to move. We will be moving to a 3bedroom/2 bathroom duplex in Des Moines. Can't wait!!!

This means i will be 7 miles from work instead of 30!!!

randomness in my mind

I miss my friends....I really do. I wish I could move closer but I don't have the money to live on my own.

Mom and I are going to look at a house tomorrow to see if we want it!!! I hope it turns out or it will be December before we will be able to move since we have to give 30 days notice to our landlord.

I get to see a whole lot of family today!! Getting ready to leave! I love family!!!

My clothes are toooooooo big and I don't have money to buy new. I have dropped 2 sizes since I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. This is good!! Really good! But now aside from 2 pairs of jeans and a sweater, everything is tooooooo big. Falls off my hips.

I have applied for a new job! Like I said earlier, not because I don't like where I am, I love it. I don't get paid enough though. I need to pay off my student loans and can't on what I make right now. So I applied to a photography place that needs people for taking preschool pictures. It pays more, has all benefits, and gives me the summers off, if I get it.

Progress

I AM GETTING EXCITED!!! Mom and I have emailed a person about a three bedroom/2 bathroom duplex in Des Moines. I really hope something comes of this because the other ones we have contacted haven't worked out for one reason or another. I am so ready to be done with this house.

This week at work has been crazy. None of us three teachers has all been there this week. This makes for crazy children and it has added a lot of tension to us other two "regular" teachers. As a result of this, I am ubber tired this week from feeling like doing two peoples work(generally because the substitute we get is lazy, unfortunately). So here's to hoping there will be a normal day this week!! It would be nice.

I am also getting ready for the fall sick season. We have already had Hand Foot and Mouth in my classroom recently so I suppose more junk will be coming our way. Flu Shot here I come!!

Hope you are all doing well!!! Love ya!

what a work out

WOW!!! Yesterday I helped out with the Winterset Huskies Marching Band. It was fun, but I am feeling it today. I was so excited when the band director put the all call out for help. I love marching band....LOVE IT!! It was great helping them perfect their marching and just seeing how much the band has improved since I have been out. When I was in the marching band we were happy if we didn't get last and now they are known for pulling first or second place at all their competitions!!

Like I said, it was fun but oh do I hurt. I got up this morning and could barely walk because by upper legs muscles were really tight and very sore. So I have been walking around like a very slow older person all day. I am just worried about work and getting up and down all day. I will just buck up and smile!!

ON other notes, mom and I have really started looking for places to live today! I am very excited about this, and hope that the inquiries I have made today turn something up!

Prayer: for my cousin who had surgery on Friday, for the bloodwork that my mom had done on friday, and for direction in whether to look for a new job.

Love you all!!

Hey Y'all I decided to start a blog on here!!

A lot of my friends have blogs on this site, so I decided to also!! I hope this will let you keep up with my life and thoughts.

Right now, I am doing well. I started working in the Toddler I room about a month and a half ago. This is ages 10-16 months. I love it. It is pretty much stress free and I love my co workers in the room!! We have 12 little ones walking crawling around the room. They are so wonderful and we laugh everyday. I will share stories of them in a future blog!!

Mom and I are also looking for a place to move to in the Des Moines area. This has been very frustrating to me lately. I am really ready to find a place and get out of this house. Not because I hate the town of Winterset, but because I hate this house. It's ghetto. All the ceilings have paint peeling off, the bathroom is just horrible(you know what I am talking about if you have been here), I am tired of no central air and a boiler unit from the ceiling for heat. Whoever designed this house wasn't informed that WARM AIR RISES!!!!! I am so ready to downsize on the junk and start new!!

Also I am ready to find a new church. I love my church family, but the silly politics the pastor has going on just really peeves me off. It's a long story so I won't get into it, but seriously!!

Other than that life is grand! Love my job, love my God, love my family and friends!!!
